Custom Packaging Sourcing: What Buyers Must Confirm

Packaging quotes can look comparable while hiding different materials, structures and finishing assumptions. Confirm these points before production.

1. Finished dimensions

Confirm internal and external size where product fit matters.

2. Material and board grade

Specify paper type, thickness, corrugated flute or rigid-board requirement.

3. Structure

Drawer box, magnetic rigid box, folding carton and mailer box behave differently in packing and shipping.

4. Insert design

Confirm EVA, flocking, molded pulp, paperboard or blister construction and the exact product cavity dimensions.

5. Printing and finishing

Separate CMYK/Pantone printing from foil, embossing, lamination, varnish and specialty finishing.

6. Pack-out and export carton

Retail packaging must still survive transportation. Confirm inner pack, carton quantity and carton protection.

7. Approval method

Agree on artwork proof, physical sample and production-reference sample before mass production.
